The bathroom were well. The TV at hotel was OK. The breakfast included is a very good solutionh.

Was OK. The value/money tradeoff was good.

    Good

The Chicago Travelodge was well located just one block from Michigan Ave. and across Michigan Ave. from Grant Park. The bathroom was clean and updated even though the hotel was very old.

The carpet throughout our room and hallways was dirty. The elevators were very slow.

    Exceptional

I found the staff very friendly from the first minute I arrived. The room was large and immaculate. The hot water was hot, which is not always the case in city hotels. I had read horrible reviews about the hotel and found they were all lies.

    The computer did not work.

COnvenient for conference at the McCormick Place. Just take Bus #3 on Michigan ave which is about fifty footsteps from the hotel front door. Good deal for the money.

Food. The breakfast and lunch at the restaurant was mediocre. The Thai place looked good but did not get to try it.

    Fabulous

I liked the proximity to Michigan Avenue, and Millenium Park. It was close enough to walk to pretty much anything I wanted to see.

I read reviews prior to my departure that the elevators were slow, and one was out of service. That was still the case a week later. I took the stairs to my 8th floor room. If you are not a sound sleeper, this may not be a wise choice. The "L" train runs frequently and could be easily be heard even on the 8th floor.

    Exceptional

    Location, price, and service.

It is not your most luxury hotel. But, it does the job well without overspending. Everything was fine.

We stayed at King Suite and it was spacious with a living room and small kitchen. The hotel is very close to good shopping places, lake, parks and eateries. A very good location in the down town. It is smoke free. Toilets are neat and clean.

Only one lift was working and waiting time was too much. Whenever I called the house keeping no one answered. Reception staff are inefficient and not customer friendly. The rooms are not sound proof and always we heard the train and car noises. The AC noise is high and somehow it helps to suppress the train noise!

Upon arriving we had to stand in a long line waiting to check in because there was only one girl at the desk. We had to wait forever for an elevator, because of the three, only one was working the other two were broken. Once we got up to the floor our room was on (11th), we exited the elevator and went to our room, the key did not work, luckily there was still a cleaning lady nearby (at 5:00 P.M.) because we did not want to chance a ride back down to the ground floor (who knew how long that would take?) While waiting for the lady to try our key we noticed holes in the floor that you could actually see down below, concrete, etc. She did get the key to work by jiggling it lots and by pushing down on the door knob, she was going to just walk away and we quickly asked her what we had to do to get our key to work and she said go back down to the front desk and ask for a new key! (It was not the key, the light turned green to allow us access however the condition of the door locks and jam were not aligned correctly. Once we got in the room (very small) the carpet was stained, the room smelled, there were bed bug carcasses on the head board, bug legs on the wall. We immediately turned back around went back down to the front desk (took us 15 minutes waiting for an elevator), we asked the lady for a refund and she told us that she was not a manager so to hang on because she would have to get him. At this point I was crying. She came back from a locked door behind the front desk and said he was busy and asked why we wanted a refund, could they just give us another room? I said absolutely not, I demanded a full refund, told her about the bugs, etc. and she said okay, she went back to whoever was hiding in this back room. Came back and said she would refund us.

    Superb

The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions on places for meals, getting transportation, etc.

    Good

The travel lodge is an old hotel, with a good location. The hotel itself is freindly. The rooms are spacious, but not fancy. It is a very budget worthy hotel.

    Very good

Close to centre and metros. Very clean rooms with helpful staff.

very noisy. You can hear the metro like it was in your room. The walls are very thin as I could here the people next door very clearly.

    Good

The Location was good, right across from Grant Park, and the Buckingham Fountain.

The hotel was very basic. The beds had to be moved away from the wall because the headbords were not attached. The radiator had heat coming from it and got very hot in our room at night, even though it was not on. Shower curtain was ripped, lighbulbs burnt out in the bathroom, towel bars pulled out from the walls.

    Fabulous

Travelodge is an older hotel in the Loop, next to the Harrison stop on the Red line, and 5 minutes walking from Millenium Park. The hotel is not a luxury hotel. They have chosen to update exactly those aspects which are essential for a pleasant stay: a comfortable bed, a clean and well maintained bathroom. Much of the rest of the hotel has a bit of the patina of an older building, including an ancient elevator operated by a very pleasant gentleman. Of course they could have rehabbed it into a $300/night place, but why? I found it to be charming and did not wish to spend a fortune. This fills an important niche for more budget conscious traveler and I highly recommmend Travelodge for those who share my outlook.
